My project NIENTE PAURA is now online. It is a personal research about the story of my family.
The words "niente paura" mean "no fear" and they come from a postcard my grandfather sent to my dad during 1957. At the time my dad was 6 years old and the writing says:
Baci da tuo papà e... niente paura!
Kisses from you dad and... no fear!
I will soon have some pictures on a zine a really love, HAMBURGER EYES. Check some of the pics I had on Issue 18 HERE.
San Berillo is one of the historical districts of my hometown (Catania, Sicily). In the late fifties the area was part of a redevelopment plan, unfortunately never completed. After the intervention the area known as San Berillo was drastically reduced and today is mainly know as home of prostitution and two major African communities, the Senegalese and Nigerians.
The article appeared on Vice Magazine Italy Year 12 No.2

Since I was as little kid I used to spend a lot of time in my mother's studio. She is a painter and she introduced me to drawing. When I was 7 I told her that I wanted to be a painter so she asked me to write it on a piece of paper and put a date on it.
And so I did.
And... the reason why I became a photographer instead of a painter is another story.
